ABSTRACT
Occupational health has not been widely recognized by Latin American governments as an important public health issue until recently. The Pan American Health Organization has included occupational health as a priority area in its version of the World Health Organization's program Health for All by the Year 2000. 1• 2 This paper is an analysis of factors influencing occupational health in Latin America, followed by a series of suggestions in the area of policy and training.
