ABSTRACT

Rose’s early traumas were successfully kept secret over 100 years until the author began his inquiry. Trained in qualitative research techniques, he began a genealogical search that took him to the archivist of the religious order that ran the orphanage; it was she who broke the secret. He returned to the farm-town home of his grandfather to discover living in-laws of his grandmother and one long-lost cousin who had amassed a family archive in his basement.
