ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 introduces the tonal system of EMSK recorded in historical documents and analyzes inconsistencies found in tone notations among different works. Chapter 5 also contains a comparison of tone notation in different editions of Hunmong jahoe 訓蒙字會 (1527) and offers an explanation for the erroneous tone notations found in this document.
