ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the case example of Sharmistha who participated in Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC) therapy. The marked progress that Sharmistha had started to achieve towards the end of the individual phase of the therapy, through allowing herself to go out and enjoy the natural world and finding a renewed ability to concentrate on reading, was interrupted by worrying developments with her family far away in India. She continued to attend faithfully and to participate fully in the group, encouraging others with her example of re-connecting with the natural world through mindfulness and showing concern for their predicaments. In the review session, which took place a few weeks after the end of the group, Sharmistha was much calmer and more in control of her life. She was much more accepting of the circumstances that had surrounded her mother's death and her inability to have done more, despite remaining unhappy about them. Despite these struggles, Sharmistha considered she had gained much from the therapy.
