ABSTRACT

Now school leaders have the tools they need to put everything they have learned into action. It is not just for today or for the next month, but for the long term. There is clearly a lot to do if school leaders want to really role model great communication, in a sustainable way. It takes time and effort to create the right framework and policies, and they will need a level of dedicated resource to ensure communication is managed effectively. School leaders may want to consider employing external expertise to at least put the framework in place. An external perspective can sometimes help them to spot issues that may not be so obvious when they are 'in the thick of things'. Their internal team are also more likely to accept new ways of working when they are introduced by external specialists, rather than someone internal to their school.
