Personal communication is full of potential pitfalls, in terms of opportunities to make mistakes. Some situations require more sensitivity in communicating. Dealing with aggressive reactions, delivering bad news, and engaging with uninterested parents are three examples of this. School leaders could offer short English language sessions on the school grounds to get parents over the threshold. This will start to change their perception of 'school' and breaks down barriers so they feel more positive about supporting their child's education.
