ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on literature reviews. It explains what they are, why literature reviews are important, and how to complete one. There are a number of benefits in conducting a literature review but most importantly, it validates law student research question. If law student do not know what has been written about their topic before, they cannot know if their question is worth asking. Newspaper reports should never be included in law student literature review as they are not academic literature. Overall, newspapers should always be used with caution and as a point of analysis rather than as a research source. There is no list or ranking that tells law student which internet sources they can include in the literature review and which ones should be avoided. By conducting a literature review, law student will get to know the key literature in the field; these are the authors they will rely on extensively throughout their project.
