ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the tripartite communal structural evils of patriarchy, the Big Man syndrome, and nepotism that distort the African tradition of community. Specifically, it describes both past and present factors that have caused and perpetuated such evils in the church and society within Nigeria and Africa at large. The chapter unearths that the common effects of all these systemic problems are the suppression of human creativity, marginalization, violence, and polarization of the people into antagonistic classes.
