ABSTRACT

The happiest people are enjoyable to be around and bring a sense of positivity to the table. Happy people are often described as having a particular glow, as shining out from the bunch. They probably seem to have a secure sense of their position and are not often driven by envy or jealousy. The happiest people have mindsets, by which the author mean a collection of attitudes that sustain their happiness. They tend to be more grateful and compassionate toward others. “Religiosity” describes one's adherence to a particular religious faith and institution, while “spirituality” describes a belief or acknowledgment of a nonmaterial force that permeates one's world and one's interactions. While mindfulness originates within meditative traditions specific to Buddhist philosophy, contemporary research increasingly highlights the power of mindfulness to happiness and well-being.
