ABSTRACT

While I was in Kiev I had several occasions to travel with Emperor Alexander III on trips through the area served by the Southwestern Railroad. The first was not long after he had ascended the throne. He had come to Kiev with several members of his family for a few days. Andreevskii, then still the manager of the railroad, had accompanied the Imperial party to Kiev. For some reason he could not accompany the party when it was to depart and I was to take his place.
