ABSTRACT

In May 1906, following my departure from office, my wife and I 1 went to Brussels to visit with my daughter and her family (her husband was with our legation there). During the ten days we spent in the city I had the opportunity of talking with Prince Napoleon, the Imperialist 2 pretender to the French throne. I met him at a dinner at the home of Lambert, the leading banker in Belgium. The prince then invited my wife and me to lunch with him at his home. *
