ABSTRACT
On the sixth of July, while Haskell's bullet bruise was still too inflamed and sensitive for him to be of service on the field, he decided to revisit Gettysburg. His division that day was halted four miles down the Baltimore Pike, and he found that by shortening his right stirrup strap to favor his bruised leg he could ride his horse at a walk without serious discomfort.
