“Our Town Had a Great Fright”

In june in Pennsylvania the young green stalks of corn stand straight and firm. In the meadows where violets and daisies mingle with the sweet, rich grasses and clovers the grazing cattle are fat and sleek. Above the meadows roll prosperous farm lands that from one generation to the next produce bountiful harvests of vegetables and fruit, of tobacco and grain.
