ABSTRACT

Global child labor is a problem of immense social and economic proportions. In the world today, the International Labour Organization estimates there are 250 million working children under the age of fifteen in the developing nations alone. Of these, 120 million are considered to be fully at work. According to the ILO, 61 percent of child workers are found in Asia, 32 percent in Africa, and 7 percent in Latin America. While Asia has the largest number of child workers, Africa has the highest labor force participation rate at around 40 percent of children between five and fourteen years old. 1
