ABSTRACT
Highlighting the complex and sometimes craggy territory of health care economics, this chapter begins by discussing wellness and preventive self-help. It then turns to professional care, focusing on three problems: escalating costs, insurance coverage, and malpractice. Finally, the chapter considers the role of government in health care, including the proposal for national health insurance.
