ABSTRACT
ThecasethatIhavebeenbuildinginresponsetothelogicalversionoftheproblemofevil-thefreewilldefense-involvesthe followingtwoclaims:(a)moralevilisanineliminablepossible side-effectofGod'screationoffreebeingsand(b)theworldis betterbyhavingfreebeingsthanitwouldbeifitlackedthem.In developing-thisstoryagainstthechallengeofthelogicalversion oftheproblemofevil,thefocusthusfarhasbeenonshowingthat thelibertarianfreedompresupposedbythefreewilldefenseisa respectableaccountofhumanaction.Failingsuchadefense,the freewilldefendermightbedismissedonthegroundsofdeploying phantomsindefenseofthefantastic.Butthatmuch,Ibelieve,we haveshownthefreewilldefendernottobeguiltyof.
