ABSTRACT

Good teaching and learning includes quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices in all classrooms and schools. School leaders have likely thought about reaching out to colleagues outside the school and district to grow learning and build professional bonds. New teachers will become part of a professional cohort, adding another layer to comprehensive induction, as they participate in scheduled activities together. The best teachers should be considered first as presenters for school-based professional development. Professional networking enables school leaders to learn much from each other as they expand their circles of expertise. School leaders should collaborate around curricular excellence to achieve common goals. School leaders can seek out a wider network of colleagues in pursuit of larger-scale initiatives. School leaders can monitor progress toward becoming high reliability schools with evidence-based hierarchical levels: Safe and Collaborative Culture; Effective Teaching in Every Classroom; Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum; Standards-Referenced Reporting; and Competency-Based Education.
