ABSTRACT

Ewe proper, spoken by the peoples with which this study is concerned, comprises two main groups of dialects : A gb and those of the Western Interior of Togoland. It is part of a dialect cluster for which Westermann has used the term Ewe in a broad sense and for which Bertho has proposed the term Adja. This larger linguistic entity includes the following dialects1 :—
