ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with patterns in conflict interaction and the regularities that underlie them. These include: stages of the conflict process; interdependence and its effects on interaction; reciprocity and compensation between parties in conflict interaction; interactive framing of conflict issues; and the role of social identity and social categorization in conflict interaction. These interaction processes are illustrated using The Parking Lot Scuffle case.
