ABSTRACT
The name Temne, also spelt Time or Timmannee appears to be restricted to the Sierra Leone Teime, who are however closely related to the Baga, Landouma and Nalau of French Guinea.
The Susu or Sous sou are one of the oldest tribes of Futa Jallon; in Sierra Leone they occupy only five chiefdoms and part of two others. The Yalunka are a branch of the same people, the name being apparently a purely geographical distinction. The French term this group the Dialonki or Jal lonké. Only the Sierra Leone Susu and Yalunka are considered below.
