ABSTRACT
This chapter gives a thorough description of the statistical methodological design that the researcher adopted, followed by the reasons for selecting the particular geographical areas and the informants' characteristics, describing the inclusion and exclusion criteria. It describes the steps that the researcher followed according to the relevant university department's ethical approval up to the recruitment of the informants. The chapter covers the way in which the design and analysis were conducted to investigate Christian–Muslim relationships in the specific geographical areas of Western Thrace in Greece and Istanbul in Turkey. The study focuses on the development of the ecclesiology and political theology of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church as it relates to Muslim-Christian relations in the contemporary context of modern Greece and Turkey. It is therefore a pioneering study in the contemporary social and religious context of the twenty-first century.
