ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates Medium-Term Plan in detail from the starting point to the end point for the unit of work. It discusses what should students understand and be able to do at the end of the unit? From this point, one can plan backwards and create assessment objectives. In order to assess the extent to which an assessment objective has been met, it is useful to devise granular statements, stating exactly what a student should know and be able to do at each stage of mastery. The Medium-Term Plan allows one to address a Fertile Question through a sequence of lessons which build progressively. Students should be taught how to use the Medium-Term Plan to locate themselves within the unit of work. They should be able to assess their current level of mastery and therefore what they need to do or learn next in order to improve their level of mastery.
