ABSTRACT
Because the 9/11 attacks were carried out by terrorists who were U.S. residents, intense attention has been drawn to the need to protect the domestic territory of the United States from terrorists entering the country from abroad. This chapter touches on security between ports of entry, visas, immigrants, refugees, and the removal of aliens. The heart of the chapter focuses on arrival screening at ports of entry including sensitive issues regarding the examination of computers and cell phones.
