ABSTRACT

Since the establishment of the Ÿeld of maintenance in the 1950s, many concepts and practices have been developed and implemented, including preventive maintenance (PM), reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance (PdM), maintenance prevention (MP), total productive maintenance (TPM), and terotechnology. Œese concepts and practices continue to be used in traditional industries as the mainstream principles in managing equipment. In high-tech industries, although companies are transitioning out of the maintenance era, many of these concepts and practices still serve as the basic building blocks of the new approaches.
