ABSTRACT
As equipment management progresses further away from the maintenance era, maintenance has developed a negative connotation for many people. Without changing the general maintenance approaches, management reinitiates the focus by repackaging the maintenance practices into improvement programs and picking catchy names such as DEEP (downtime elimination and education program) [4] and EQUIP (equipment quality uniŸed improvement program). However, it is best to develop a new approach that meets the needs of the new environment.
