ABSTRACT

Jung propounds the idea that astrology is a projection of the psychology of the unconscious into the heavens, arguing that the meanings once ascribed to the planets and stars, and thought to originate in them, actually stem from archetypes in the collective unconscious. Discussing the process of the progressive withdrawal of unconscious projections from the environment, Jung contrasts the modern understanding of the individual psyche as the source of all meaning with primal and medieval perspectives.
