ABSTRACT

Jung advances the view that astrology is a divinatory system, or mantic method, akin to the I Ching. Describing the rationale behind his astrological experiment, which investigates whether there are statistically significant correlations evident between the astrological charts of married partners, he finds significance in the fact that faulty calculations appeared to lend support to astrology. He argues that there exists a kind of synchronicity at work between the researcher and the experimental data and between astrologer and client – a form of synchronicity facilitated by the occurrence of heightened emotional states when using astrology.
