ABSTRACT

This chapter looks in detail at how to shoot, light, record sound and choose optimal workflow and camera settings when working alone. It looks closely at the documentary forms that underlie the structure of the majority of documentary and television production worldwide and what shots and shot types to include. It shows how to follow action and create sequences that develop and cut when shooting observational footage. It also looks at how to set up, shoot and structure interviews and how to interact appropriately with contributors to create the desired program type.
