ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a step by step guide to the process of lighting and what to look for when setting key, back, fill and set lights. It gives guidance on lighting day and night exteriors and interiors on sets or locations. It also looks at how to light difficult spaces such as stairs, halls and car interiors and how to light a green screen for VFX. It continues by looking at managing light changes during shots and how foggers and wet downs affect lighting and sets. The chapter finishes by looking at simple approaches to lighting that are effective when you have very little time and how to work effectively with the lighting department.
