ABSTRACT

The present distribution of the Sotho people extends over British Bechuanaland and the Bechuanaland Protectorate, the Orange Free State, and the Transvaal (exclusive of alien enclaves in the north-west and south-east) and Basutoland, together with adjacent portions of the Ciskei and Transkei territories. In addition there are representatives in south-west Southern Rhodesia, South West Africa, and in Barotseland, Northern Rhodesia.2
