ABSTRACT
This chapter begins by discussing the clinical implications of contemporary immigration policy reforms on American-born children of Mexican immigrant parents, connecting macro level social and immigration policy to micro level clinical practice. It discusses future policy directions consistent with the findings of the integrated sociopolitical and psychological analysis of contemporary immigration policy reforms. The chapter links the secondary study's research findings to the proposed future policy directions. It presents the new immigration executive orders implemented by President Trump as of January 2017, examining their implications for mixed status families and their American children, with an emphasis on the long-term implications for American society. The integrated analysis of contemporary immigration reform policy exposed current policies as a legal, conscious and unconscious White Nativist mechanism by which to both preserve and protect the existing "White Native" identity and culture from its impending transformation.
