ABSTRACT
The strategies of 'new youth justice' were animated by a new multi-agency structure, whose practice was tightly performance managed by a new monitoring body in order to ensure systemic responses that were effective, efficient and economical. In 'A newer "new youth justice"', contemporary youth justice is updated in five easy pieces: Developing Coalition youth justice; Evaluating Coalition youth justice; Conservative youth justice; Welsh youth justice; Children first positive youth justice: A new frontier. In 2010, the Ministry of Justice published the first criminal justice Green Paper of the new Coalition Government, entitled 'Breaking the Cycle: Effective Punishment, Rehabilitation and Sentencing of Offenders'. In 2012, the Coalition Government released the 'Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012', the basis of which was a critique of the formulaic and inflexible approach to out-of-court sentencing introduced by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
