ABSTRACT
The introduction presents the idea of polyglot places as sites of translation. Each site will tell a story involving a conversation across languages. Themes include memory, activist translation, conversion, reterritorialization, language competition, replication, indifference, transformation, difficult passage and breakdown, translanguaging.
