ABSTRACT
The Zande homestead is also the primary political unit. Evans-Pritchard's map, in Seligman’s Pagan Tribes (p. 498), shows the distribution of Zande homesteads and the system of tracks which join them and converge into main paths leading to the homestead of the chief's deputy, and thence to the chief’s court and eventually to the king's court. Such a map is also a diagram of Zande political structure.
