ABSTRACT

Global sourcing strategy has been widely used in apparel supply chains because of increasing differences in material and labour costs among countries, advanced communication technologies and area-specific skill specialization. Finance is an important criterion in the process of vendor selection. With respect to the vendor selection problem, the manufacturer should be able to control the delivery schedule arrangement on the basis of the customer's request. As an important criterion for vendor selection, delivery usually should be connected with on-time delivery and satisfactory fill rate. Vendor's flexibility to make appropriate changes according to a customer's request usually has a significant influence on the global sourcing management. Vendors' performance is assessed based on their ability to deal with fluctuant or urgent demand. An important issue in the Multiple Criteria vendor selection problem is determining the weights associated with each criterion.
