ABSTRACT

On p ,100 Affifi discusses two kinds of saintship as used by ibn al-’Arabl, The "Seal" of absolute or general saintship, which begins with Adam, is Jesus in his second life on earth. The Seal of the second, which might be called "Mohammedan Viceregency", is ibn al-’Arabl himself. On p,110, it is mentioned that in ibn al-’Arabl, "Jesus explains the meaning of life and spirituality...” and other prophets explain other things, On p,136: "When the soul attains a high degree of spirituality it reflects things in the higher spheres and becomes receptive of the divine ’Breath* {al Nafkh), Christ did not create birds from no birds. The birds were already in existence — but not whole, The souls of the birds were in the divine Breath and the bodies were in Nature; the ’word’ of Christ united the souls to the bodies."
