ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the various channels through which all the key information is disclosed to the general public: the sales brochure, advertisement, the sales office, the website designated by the vendor for development, and so on. Radical changes have been introduced into the regulatory regime of the sale of first-hand residential properties in Hong Kong after the reform of the Consent Scheme in 2010 in regards to the drafting and issuance of sales brochures, the contents and distribution of advertisements, and the construction and presentation in the show flats. The Ordinance further recognizes one more official information channel, that is the website designated for sale by vendor, and requests timely update of information on transaction volume/price, revision of price lists and sales brochure. Among the four major information channels, the show flats and the sales brochure remain the most regulated areas with the advertisement the least.
