ABSTRACT

Clinical research is an attempt to advance efficient, objective, and reliable knowledge regarding therapeutics as well as diagnostics and prevention. In contrast with patient care, which is derived from chance occurrence and experience, clinical research is more efficient, since it applies theory and data to the improvement of care. Defining clinical research is not a simple task. But operationally, clinical research is the application of research methodology in a clinical setting to study conceptualization, design process, conduct, analysis, and statistical inference. Conducting clinical research is interdisciplinary in approach including clinical, epidemiologic, statistical, ethical, and managerial considerations.
