ABSTRACT

This chapter explores components of the supply chain, noting the real key with Lean supply chain management is not to make it harder than it is. The free space allowed the company to move all of their raw materials and finished goods from another building into their old facility and has 20% of the space for growth. Supplies and equipment in the wrong place cause constant searches for materials, which is a clear waste of time; yet, people see it all the time. Class “A” performance in a business resource management program is based on meeting 50 measurement criteria, which are composed of operational and behavioral measurements. The key is to develop methods to remove all obstacles as there are covered recyclable containers that can be used. Once the parts are on or near the line, keeping track of them or even inventorying them every day is part of the Lean system.
