ABSTRACT

This chapter explores a variety of change tools including paradigms, the change equation, change management observations, and barriers along with techniques to overcome them and closes with thoughts on implementing suggestions systems. Change management is not only a large part of Lean; it is an essential part of becoming Lean. There are two ways to incentivize change. One is to have an actual crisis or business case, where without change, the organization will not survive. The other way is to invent a crisis or to set very high goals for the organization that cannot be achieved by doing it the way it has always been done. The impact of globalization has required many organizations to become more nimble and the ability to change effectively is more critical than ever. There are many change models available to facilitate the change management process.
