ABSTRACT

The goal of the Lean enterprise is to supply the best value to the customer at the right time, with the highest quality at the lowest cost. Lean is typically called a Japanese system of production. Most people think of the Toyota Production System. Lean is used for all business models and, if Lean principles are implemented properly, they will prompt changes from all parts of the organization, including Information Technology, finance, accounting, purchasing, marketing, human resource, and engineering. As organizations embark on their Lean journey, they need to understand every department within the enterprise can benefit from becoming Lean. Lean must embrace the entire organization and Lean thinking is a major systemic cultural change. Some of the activities are directed more for an initial Lean project or rollout in a given area.
