ABSTRACT
The calmness had stayed with Peter for a while after the last session. He felt strangely detached from things at home, doing what he wanted, when he wanted. He spent more time with Melanie, more nights with her. His mother, at the end of the week, made the suggestion that perhaps he should bring ‘this Melanie’ round to meet her on the Sunday. Peter had said no, not if that was her attitude. They’d actually made other plans anyway and Peter was reluc tant to change those, particularly given that he didn’t think his mother was going to make her very welcome. It didn’t help the atmosphere at home when he said no, and explained why. He got a torrent of verbal abuse from his mother and it was at that point that something snapped in Peter. He’d had enough. An invisible line had been crossed.
