ABSTRACT

In our own practice at Huntley Mount Medical Centre, Bury, Greater Manchester,

we decided to explore the possibilities of extending the provision of complementary

services.

As a two-doctor practice, one partner is a homeopath. A fully integrated approach

for homeopathy was already established alongside an in-house counselling service,

providing a holistic and integrated approach to our patients’ care. Our medical

centre is based in the heart of a deprived area, and around 60% of our patients live

in the poorest section of the community. We have the full spectrum of social class,

most professions are represented and living in the more affluent parts of the town.

We wanted to offer a wider range of complementary therapies to enhance our

existing set-up to improve healthcare provision for our local community.
