ABSTRACT

Helen contacts the substance misuse team in Devon, and they arrange for a transfer of information. They decide to give Mark a community care worker at the start and refer him for further counselling as well as provide him with a care co-ordinator. Mark begins the switch to buprenorphine, spends a couple of nights with Mandy, and uses methadone with her. He realises he's been stupid, which leads him to connect with and release pent-up anger from his past within the counselling session. He detoxes over a few weeks, anger and increasing sadness rising to the surface. He gets support from the outreach worker. His mother is making it difficult for him, reacting badly to his decision to move away. Mark speaks over the phone to Lizzie, his new care co-ordinator in Devon.
