ABSTRACT

The investment in new technologies increasingly has a connection to social media communication. A social media start-up, once beyond initial development and testing, would be expected to make a "pitch" to an investor or investment group. At the heart of social and mobile media are relationships, social ties, social capital and motivation. In countries where democracy is struggling to flourish, there have been numerous attempts to use social and mobile media as tools of mobilization, revolution and international awareness. Social media communication ushered in an era in which entrepreneurs comfortable in social media spaces may be able to skyrocket in popularity and become a rock star within the innovation culture. The stream of technological innovation—from 5G mobile to VR and AR headsets—continues at a rapid pace, and the Internet of Things will require bandwidth to power connected devices. Digital media have ushered in an era of continuous innovation.
