ABSTRACT
The theory of deduction provides techniques for the analysis and appraisal of deductive arguments. We have already looked at classical or Aristotelian logic in the previous three chapters. Now, in Chapter 6 through 8, we turn to modern symbolic logic. Developed primarily within the past century, symbolic logic rests upon an artificial language that was developed to represent statement forms and argument forms.
