ABSTRACT
Upon completion of Chapter 9, readers will be able to identify and describe a number of factors that effect listening in academic settings (e.g., perceived relevancy, learning style, emotional intelligence, communication apprehension, classroom climate, teacher immediacy, and teaching methods). Understanding these factors will enable readers strategically to choose and utilize strategies to improve their own academic listening.
