ABSTRACT

In the political sphere, the significance of social websites is already well founded by political experiments recently in India. The question that emerges now is how could social media be used for purposes beyond election strategies. One significant aspect of this understanding is how these new channels of communications are affecting political resistance. Theorising resistance in the age of social media is increasingly relevant. Social media has generated a broad set of implications in resistance practices. It is also very difficult to locate them in one chapter or one book. Nevertheless, any attempt on resistance practices on social media age could never overlook one signifying idea. The significant locator in understanding resistance on social media is the contentious politics.
