ABSTRACT

The feature that organizes disjunctive moments is the rupture and repair process (cf. Beebe & Lachmann, 2002; Schore, 2003). The rupture represents a failure in the system’s functionality. The members of the therapeutic dyad appear to go their separate ways. Disruptions in mindsharing are evident and the fi ttedness between patient and therapist fails to provide the complementarity necessary for the therapeutic process to progress. Attractors may emerge within the system that lead to stalemates or that impede the mindsharing process (cf. Sandmeyer, 2016).
