ABSTRACT

200The commercial liquid emulsions available today are much the same as those used since the early beginnings of photography. In 1965 the Rockland Company made and manufactured one of the first “emulsions in a bottle” called Liquid Light. Since then, a lot of liquid emulsions have come and gone, but you can still find several kinds in stores around the world, including Liquid Light. They can be a little tricky to use, but if you follow the directions in Enfield’s chapter, you will be able to print on almost any material.

Enfield also gives wonderful instructions on how to use a kit to make dry plate tintypes and then make developer from scratch to save money. The hints and tricks in this chapter will help a photographer from novice to professional make tintypes in camera or in the darkroom.
